For this comparison we are going to focus on and compare some different bike lights, bike floor pumps and what’s needed in your tyre repair kit.
LED Bike Lights
LED bike lights include the front and rear lights. These lights come in all shapes and sizes and functions as well as lumen’s (amount of visible light created by the bulbs). It’s important that your front bike light provides you with ample visibility (typically a bright white light) to ensure you can see where and what you’re riding on as well as acting as a safety so that other riders, pedestrians and cars can see where you are. The rear light is typically a red coloured LED light which has many different preset functions which you can set depending on your preference. Once again this acts to provide pedestrians, other cyclists and cars notice of where you are on the road or footpath. This helps to keep everyone safe.

Bike tyre floor pumps act as a very important tool that all cyclists should have at home or in their car, because the right tyre pressure is crucial to a safe ride but also helps to reduce unnecessary wear and tear on your tyres. All tyre manufacturers come with their intended bike tyre/bike tube pressures and its important to follow this to ensure safety and durability. Bicycle floor pumps come in all shapes and sizes and its important to consider how frequently you will use, your ergonomics and physical ability and also price and quality of the pump you intended on purchasing.

What should be included in your tyre repair kit? That’s an excellent question and its always important to consider what type of riding you’re doing, the terrain you will be riding on, access to other mechanical and repair supports. However, weight is also another very important consideration as we need to balance out having the basics to ensure we can repair our tyres on the side of the road without weighing a tonne and slowing us down during our rides to maintain performance.
